I hope they will lean more into the Major being a lesbian instead of her being bisexual or straight. It just makes more sense.

The manga is unironically too smart and artistic for the average anime slop consoomer. It’s niche sci-fi that is too heavy for most people.

漫画のデザインをかなり忠実に使ってるのは見えるけど、彼らが漫画のストーリーを忠実に再現するって情報はどこから来たの？シリーズでもなくて、ほんの少し繋がった一話完結の話ばかりだし。

I see them using manga designs closely, but where did you get the info about them adapting manga stories closely? They are not even a series, just barely connected one-shots.

We can get our hopes up they’e showing us it’ll be promising but we can’t judge it’ll be a faithful manga adaptation by the poster art alone

こうなるとまた別の攻殻機動隊のゴミになるだけだな、原作漫画に似せようとしてるだけだろ。これらの要素が実際に出てくるとは思えないし、でもＺ世代はそれでも喜ぶんだろうな。

no porn no gore no edgy humor no cursing It will be another nuGitS slop in that case, just trying to look like the original manga. Unless those elements actually appear, but I doubt. Zoomers will slurp it anyway.

何を求めるかによるよな。漫画は読んでないけど、映画の哲学的な側面と、漫画のそれが違うってことじゃないかな。だから、もし頭を使わずに楽しめるものが好きなら、漫画の方が映画より好まれるかもしれないだろ。

It deppends on what you want out of it. I haven’t read the manga, but, I assume the rift here is between the philosophical aspects of the movie genre vs the manga which isn’t….that….so I guess if you like mindless consumer slop then the manga is probably preferable to you to the movies.

Pretty sure McGlynn is still an active voice actor, so hopefully she’ll come back to voice Motoko once again.

これは原作漫画の完全な映像化にはならないんじゃないかな。他の映像化作品よりも原作漫画の雰囲気に沿ったものになるだろうけど、他の映像化作品のように原作漫画のストーリーを大まかに再現するか、全く新しいストーリー展開になるかのどちらかになるんじゃないの。

I don’t think this is going to be a straight adaptation of the manga. It’ll be more in line with the tone of the manga than any other adaptation but I reckon it’ll either go the route other adaptations have gone of loosely retelling manga arcs or be about completely new arcs.

今のところの唯一の不満は、素子の色合いだな。西洋人が「レトロ」なアニメをパロディする時のような感じに見える。士郎がカラーページで使っていた色にもっと近い方が良かったと思う。

My only complaint from what we’ve seen so far is the coloring on Motoko. It feels too much like what you see when a westerner tries parodying what they think a “retro” anime would look like. Something more in line with the colors Shirow used in the colored pages would’ve been better.

これがただの絵の問題で、発売時には色合いが漫画にもっと似ていることを願ってる。

Hopefully this is just a issue with this drawing and the coloring will be more similar to the manga by the time it comes out.

Atsuko Tanaka didn’t live long enough to voice probably the most authentic version of the Major. Man, this sucks.

正直言って、漫画もアニメも大好きなんだ。平均的な攻殻機動隊ファンにはちょっと萌えすぎかもしれないけど、単純に楽しいし、クールな技術がたくさんあるんだよね。

I’ll be honest, I love the manga and the anime I know it’s probably too moe for average GITS fans, but it’s just fun and has a bunch of cool tech

誰が田中敦子の代わりになれるんだ？彼女の声は本当に象徴的だったんだよ。

Who can possibly replace Atsuko Tanaka? Her voice was absolutely iconic.

実際の漫画の映像化なら、中二系のボーイッシュな女優を探せばいいだけだから、結構簡単だよ。漫画の中の素子はそういうキャラだからね。田中敦子が象徴的だったのは確かだけど、この場合は代わりがいないわけじゃない。

Who can possibly replace Atsuko Tanaka? It’s pretty easy for an actual manga adaptation, they just need to looks for actresses who play chuuni tomboys, that’s how the Major is in the manga. As iconic as Atsuko Tanaka was, she’s not irreplaceable in this particular case.
