早乙女親子は修行中に伝説の修行場「呪泉郷」に落ち、水をかぶると乱馬は女の子に、その父玄馬はパンダに変身する体になってしまっていた！

I read this manga a long time ago and the only thing i can remember is that Shampoo was the only good girl in the entire story.
Ranma is also a pretty lame lead as well since he’s a closet homo.

It does seem like they chose the colors based on looking at old sun bleached duplicates of duplicates to try to match what 80s shows look like now, instead of what they looked like then.

The colors are based on the colors used in Rumiko Takahashi illustrations, in particular the final one here. Rumiko also drew girl Ranma with pink hair particularly often.

今の人たちって、昔のアニメが色を濃くしてのは、ブラウン管テレビで見ることを想定してたからって理解してないんだよね。特に90年代までは、普通のテレビは色が薄く見えがちだったんだ。高級なテレビを除いてね。

A lot of people nowaday doesn’t understand that many old anime were oversaturated cause they were supposed to be played on CRT TVs. That especially until the ’90s tended to have washed out colors. Unless it was very luxury expensive TVs.

女らんまの髪が違うのは、アニメ制作スタジオのアイデアだったんだ。赤やピンクの髪のらんまは、だいたいアニメの宣伝用のイラスト。漫画では女らんまの髪は黒だよ。

Female Ranma hair being different was something that came from the anime studio that was making the adaptation. Those arts done with ranma having red/pinkish hair is usually promotional material from the anime. Female ranma hair in the manga is black.

これらはアニメの宣伝用じゃないよ。留美子が漫画のカラーページでは黒髪で描いてたけど、単行本や章のカラーではいろんな色で描いてたんだ。ピンクは特によく使われてて、アニメの暗い赤よりも多かったね。

These aren’t promotional for the anime. Rumiko may have always drawn Girl Ranma with black hair in colored pages for the manga, but she colored Girl Ranma with many colors on volume and chapter colors. Pink is one of the ones that showed up most often. More than the anime’s dark red.

らんまを「可愛い」って形容するとは思わなかったけど、ストレートなコメディというより日常系な感じがある。

30年間らんまを見てきたけど、このアプローチは面白いね。

Never thought I’d use adorable to describe Ranma either, but it’s got a more SOL feel rather than a straight comedy.

Ranma is not an ecchi series. It’s a romcom with some nudity. The nudity was always casual and/or for laughs.

第1話楽しんだよ。全体的なデザインはそんなに好みじゃないけど、背景は大体いい感じ。声優陣もまだいい感じだし、玄馬役のチョーさんもいいね。もう少しドラマチックに演出してほしいけど、今のままでも問題ないと思う。効果音でキャラがモノクロになるのも好きだし、表情もかわいいところがあるよ。今のところ悪くないね。

I enjoyed the first episode. Not super into the overall design work, but the backgrounds look nice for the most part, the older cast still sound alright, and I like Cho as Genma. I think I’d prefer if it were boarded just a little more dramatically, but I don’t think there’s anything really wrong with it how it is. I like that sometimes the sound effects cause the character art behind them to go monochrome and I think some of the expressions are cute.
That’s all I’ve got. It’s not bad so far.
