祀られることによって、神は力を増す。
戦いを前にした皆の心遣いにより峠では祭りが行われていた。

It didn’t come across very well in the anime, but Omizuchi’s red and yellow heads were using Takeribi’s and Toyohana’s elements respectively, fire and earth. He was single-headed before eating them.

I imagine they were trying to link it to Yamata no Orochi? I’m not exactly sure why they’d diverge from the game here but you could easily draw several parallels reading the first few paragraphs on Wikipedia.

It’s not just parallels. Omizuchi is explicitly based on Yamata no Orochi. Sakuna’s parents are explicitly based on Susanoo and Kushinada-hime and their backstory is based on the story of Susanoo slaying Orochi to save Kushinada-hime.

I wish it showed Tama returning in her moment of despair and powering her up with both parts of the blade then kicking ass. Omizuchi tries to kill Sakuna in a suicide move and we get to the scene of them falling.
