あらすじ 第5話 「きんたの恩返し」
季節は夏。
きんたが所望した鍛冶小屋も完成し稲作も順調に進む。
しかし相変わらず、きんたはゆいにきつく当たる。
邪険に扱われても、なおそばにいて関わろうとする真っすぐなゆいを見たサクナはきっと恋に違いないと、愛読書である「片恋物語」を参考にゆいを応援しようとするのだった。

そのうちの一人はお前の職人スキルを受け継いでいて、他の子供たちよりも覚えているかもしれない。なぜなら、長い間質問してきて、お前の道具を使っていたからだ。もう十分に上手くなってお前を煩わせることはなくなった。まあ、作業場はそいつのものだな。

きんたがゆいに恋愛的に興味を持っていることがゲームよりもはっきり描かれているせいで、彼がミルテとかいまると一緒に下界に戻り、ゆいがサクナと田右衛門と島に残るエンディングがさらに悲劇的になっている。
しかも罠を仕掛けたのが他の僧侶じゃなくてきんただって変更も笑えるわ。
The fact that they made it so much more clear Kinta is also romantically interesed in Yui compared to the game makes the ending where he returns to the lowly realm alongside Myrthe and Kaimaru while she stays with Sakuna and Tauemon in the Island a lot more tragic.
They also changed the fact that he was the one who set the trap and not other monks lmao

アニメ勢へのメモ。
宇宙人に関してはゲームでもほとんど背景情報がない。重要な部分は省略されてないけど、ゆいとのやり取りについては一つだけ省略された部分がある。それは後で回想シーンで描かれるかもしれない。ゆいときんたの物語は日本の民話「鶴の恩返し」に基づいていて、その話のポイントは、最後に普通の人間と鶴の女性が離れ離れになること。ゆいが人間の姿を取り戻すために宇宙人と交わした契約の一部は、最終的にきんたのそばを離れるというものだった。
A couple notes for anime-onlies.
The aliens have just as little context in the game. They didn’t skip anything important about them, though they did skip one thing about their interaction with Yui, which they might still flash back to later anyway. Yui and Kinta’s story is based on the Japanese folklore story The Crane’s Return of a Favor, and the point of that story is that the common man and the crane woman must be apart at the end Part of Yui’s deal with the aliens to regain her human form was that she’s going to leave Kinta’s side at the end.

I think the aliens are a reference to Orihime and Hikoboshi they are people from the stars and lovers forced to stay away from each other. They are the main chracters of Tanabata, that Summer festival about making wishes for the stars, they are those stars.

Tanabata is Chinese. Tsuru no Ongaeshi, I believe, is Japanese original. Though China is famous for stories about tragic lovers. Like at least half of their folktales and legends are about that.

ゆいが鶴だとは思わなかったし、宇宙人が出てくるなんて予想外だった。特に宇宙人には驚いた。でも、かなり良いエピソードだったよ。このエピソードの後、きんたがもっと落ち着くことを期待してる。今のところ、彼だけにはあまり興味が持てなかったけど、これで良い方向に変わってくれるといいな。
Wasn’t expecting Yui to be a crane or aliens to show up. The aliens in particular took me off guard. Pretty good episode though. Hope Kinta will be more mellow after this episode. He’s the only character I haven’t really cared for so far and I hope he’s changed for the better now.

The pacing of this event is all fucked up because this obviously happens later in the game. Yui’s secret reveal isn’t supposed to be this abrupt into the story.
