もしかして、戦闘シーンはアニメで見るのが好きで、会話は小説のように情報密度の高い方がいいのかもしれない。
the anime will save the war arcs. fights are pretty good in this series and the music slaps. but talking was more fun than that in read form.
maybe i like fights animated, and conversations having more information density like in a novel. that seems sensible.

rimuru already said who’s responsible for what, and seats at the table are all by importance. there are almost no clowns or useless “fairies” who don’t actually contribute anything at the table

The kanji is for AKU aka Evil or Wicked. In this context it would mean fierce or maybe vicious as you really can’t equate Shion as evil/wicked.

西方教会編はもっと長く展開され、登場人物たちがもっと大きな役割を果たすことが期待されていたように感じます。しかし、結局のところ全てが1回の戦いで解決されました。ただ、これは元のWN（ウェブノベル）で起こったことの1対1の再現で、登場人物たちがより大きな役割を持つことは最初から計画されていなかったようです。

It’s basically a 1 to 1 recreation of the same thing that happened in the WN though so they definitely weren’t planned to have a bigger role.
