あらすじ 第16幕 「祭りの夜と狂った歯車」
ロレンスが不在の間、ホロと祭りを見て回っていたアマーティは、ホロがロレンスから借金を背負っていると聞かされていた。
方便を真に受けたアマーティは、借金を肩代わりし、ホロに結婚を申し込むと大勢の前で宣言する。
しかしホロと自分のつながりに自信をもつロレンスはそれを受け入れ、ホロとともに町で行われている祭りへと出かけていく。

本での唯一の不満はホロの見た目かな。特に狼と香辛料XVIII Spring Logでは、ホロがすごく若く見えすぎて、まるでお姉さんみたいに見えちゃうんだよね。新しいアニメでは、ホロが20代前半に見えるのはいい感じ。ただちょっと小柄すぎなんだよなぁ。
the only issues i have with the books is sometimes how holo looks. like she always looked way way to young espcially in the spring log books when she basicaly looks like her older sister. the one thing i do like about the new show is she looks like early 20s now, just petite.

Bitch this situation is ENTIRELY your fault, take some of the responsibility for running your dumb mouth. Lawrence had no choice to accept the contract, all she simply has to do is accept her freedom and still choose to travel with Lawrence, or, if she has some heart within her and doens’t want to rob Amati, tell him that even if he bought her debt she would not travel with him.
What the actual fuck is this entire scenario? How is ANY of this on Lawrence to sort out?

本来の計画では、ホロがアマーティから金を絞り取って、黄鉄鉱の件も混ぜて、それからロレンスと一緒に笑って逃げるってものだったんだ。でも手紙が来てしまって、ホロは計画を続けているけど、ロレンスは完全にシャットダウンモードに入って彼女と話してくれない。ホロがバカだったのは、ロレンスの自分への気持ちを誤解したことだ。手紙も喧嘩もなければ、二人でアマーティを騙して笑い飛ばして、飲みながら楽しんだだろうに。ホロが（多少は正当だけど）爆発して、ロレンスはパニックで沈黙モードになった。うん、これは二人の責任だな。
the plan was that she was basicaly gonna milk him for money and then extra stuff mixed with the pyrite shit, then laugh and run off lawrence, the issue is the letter happened and while she is still continuing with the plan, lawrence has gone full shutdown mode and isnt talking to her. she is a dumbass in this because she misread lawrences care for her, if the letter hadnt happend and the fight didnt happen, they both would have probably laughed at fucking over the little shit and having a drink after but she blew up(somewhat justifiably) and lawrences crashed into slumber and panic mode. its both their faults.

It’s incredibly frustrating because Holo spends so much time telling Lawrence how he “should” act. That he needs to be manlier, pay more attention to his deals, he needs to say this, act more like this.
Yet in the end she’s as big of a mess as he is, which is fine, except for the fact she always so smug and Lawrence never calls her out for it. Wise wolf finds out she’s not so wise after all.

the book kinda goes into it that she was gonna use it as prank or some surprise moment at some point, she has done that shit before, she saw the letter was about yoitsu and went “oh boy”. it was never her trying to be sneaky with it fully, she trusted him mostly. it was just one of her weird little games, but it backfired bad.

手紙の書き方から、彼は町がなくなったことをほぼ確信していたけど、確認したかったということがわかる。これに彼女が怒ってるんだ。見てると、彼女が苦しんで怒りをぶつけてるのが明らかだけど、彼にも少しはしっかりしてほしいと思ってるんだ。彼女は本当に心から悲しんで感情的に溺れてて、何でも良いから怒りをぶつけたがってるんだよ。
both of them do actually. she never intended to leave him but he took her “im sorry” plus the other stuff as “fuck off” and she took him as “well shit i think i really hurt him” both are trying to get the other to talk to them while doing their own plans. anyway.
the letter
the way the letter is worded shows that he figured the town was gone but wanted to make sure. which she is pissed about. watching it. its clear she is in distress and lashing out but she also just wants him to sack up a bit. again she is genuinly upset and drowning emotionally and is looking for anykind thing to lash out at.

早い段階で、ロレンスがヨイツのことを聞いたことがないと嘘をついたんだよな。実際には、ヨイツが破壊されたという話を聞いてたんだ。手紙はヨイツの破壊について尋ねる内容で、彼女にはヨイツが破壊されたことを聞いたとは言わずに彼女の気持ちを守ろうとしてたんだけど、それが裏目に出た。もしロレンスが臆病者じゃなくてホロに正直に話していれば、もっとスムーズにいっただろうけど、ロレンスがこっそりヨイツのことを調べていて、ホロには故郷に連れて行くと約束してたのは、たとえロレンスが良い意図を持っていたとしても、まるで彼女を騙しているように見えるんだよ。
The bit was he lied and said he never heard of Yoitsu early on, when he had heard stories it had gotten destroyed. The letter was him asking about the destruction of Yoitsu, and he was doing it behind her back without telling her he heard Yoitsu was destroyed to try to save her feelings, which backfired. If Lawrence had told Holo straight up instead of being a pussy, things would have gone smoother, but Lawrence secretly talking about Yoitsu being gone and while promising Holo to take her to her home does look like he’s baiting her even if Lawrence had good intentions.

Nah, that would have made shit so much worse and it wouldn’t have been fun,best case is they stay together because he knocks her but she quietly loaths him for giving into fucking her at her lowest moment, she would probably just leave one night with a note and retreat into the woods to raise the kid as a wolf. At worst it would be a mutually awful experience and they both separate and neither trust people again.

最初に見たとき、オリジナルでは彼が童貞で、女性のアプローチを怖がる少しホモっぽい感じだった。リメイクでは、すぐに動くもの全てとヤるのが必ずしも最善の解決策ではないことを知っている大人のように見えた。ついでに、ホロの崩壊が少し抑えられていたのも良かった。ただ、大人の女性がつらい時間を過ごしているだけだった。リメイクがこのシーンをどのように扱ったかが本当に気に入った。よりリアルに見えたな。
At first sight in the original he looked like a virgin and bit of a homosexual afraid of an advance of a woman. In the remake he looked like an adult that knows that fucking everything that moves at the first opportunity is not always the best solution.
While I am at it I also liked how Holo’s breakdown was a little subdued. It was just an adult woman having a shitty time.
I really liked how the remake handled this scene. It looked more real.

yeah, i agree with this. like imagine you leave your family basicaly running away to travel the world and basicaly end up isolated in some village for over a promise to the point where you dont even remember how long its been. then you finally get out and are starting to fall in love and you gonna travel with them to your home town and its gonna be great, maybe some niggling doubt but whatever, you tease about how you can’t read and you gonna use that to get one over on him as a joke, oh hey he has a letter and its about my home. oh, he knew the whole time and everyone has been dead for centuries. i think her breakdown was probably to light for that.

Even if you accept her breakdown as acceptable (which really she should’ve already expected this being a wolf living for thousands of years), the fact that this drama is continue well on for the rest of the arc is just ridiculous. They should get mad, have a fight, and make up by the next morning if she’s so “wise” but instead we’re just going to run on this on for another 2 episodes.

I can’t put my finger on it but it seems like his old art had a more subdued feeling like it was cute but you could also take it seriously.
