TVアニメ『狼と香辛料 MERCHANT MEETS THE WISE WOLF』4月1日（月）25:30よりテレ東ほかにて放送。行商人と狼の旅路は、また一から紡がれる。

あらすじ　　第10幕　　「狼の知恵と商人の口車」
武具の大暴落により、ロレンスは借金を抱え破産寸前に追い込まれてしまった。

街を駆け回り、金策を頼み込むが門前払いが続く。

なんとか僅かな金を工面したロレンスは、せめて故郷に帰るための路銀にとホロに渡そうとする。

しかしそのせいで、彼女を怒らせてしまう。

ならば、二人で難局を乗り越えようとホロはロレンスに秘策を持ち掛ける。

正直、最初のアニメでロレンスがこんなに情けなかった覚えはない。でも、金の密輸羊計画に至るまでの流れもあまり覚えていないから、そういうことなんだろうな。あいつら、本当に俺たちのロレンスを奴隷に売り飛ばすように仕組んでいたんだ。

I legit don’t remember Lawrence being this pathetic in the first anime. Then again I don’t really remember the lead up to the gold smuggling sheep plan at all so I guess that tracks. Those assholes really set our boy up to be sold into slavery.

彼は元々もかなり間抜けだよね。ロレンスの問題は、いろんな面で頭がいいけど、取引や計画に関してはちょっとダメだってこと。彼自身の言葉を借りると、たいてい途中で気づいて、そのまま乗って行って、せめて損はしないようにするって感じ。彼はまた、内向的過ぎて人をどう扱うかが分からず、助けを求めることもあまりしない。もちろん、ホロは彼が彼女を頼りにしすぎないことを尊重しているけど、彼女の方が人の心を読む経験がはるかに豊富で、明らかな嘘にも気づきやすい。個人的には、ロレンスをちょっとアスペ気味だと見なしてるかな。彼はバカではないし、特定の興味やスキルには非常に優れているけど、人との関わりは少し苦手なんだ。

he is pretty dumb in the original too. lawrences problem is he is smart in a bunch of ways but is kinda shit with deals and schemes. from his own words he usually catches on half way through and stays for the ride and see if he can at least break even. he is also too much of an introvert to know how to play people and not willing to ask for help enough, like sure holo respects him for not leaning her as crutch but she has way way more expirence with peoples minds and noticing obvious bullshit then he is. i always just kinda write lawrence off as vaguely asbergers, he isnt some mongoloid or bazninga but he has his hyper interests and skills and is kinda weak with people.

ロレンスが自分を危険な状況から抜け出すために誰かと交渉する場面って、すごく不自然に感じることが多いんだよな。彼が無理な要求をしてるだけなのに、なんで相手が怯えたり、騙されたような振りをするんだろう？普通ならそんな要求に従う理由なんてないのにさ。

A lot of these negotiations between Lawrence and whoever he is using to pull himself out of a precarious situation feel really unnatural. Why do they cower and act like they’ve had the wool pulled over their eyes when it’s usually just some unreasonable demand he’s making that they have no real reason to go along with?

In this case, they at least foreshadow why they would be open to the deal. Last episode, the gateman at Remirio Company is clearly shown going through something, the receiving area he’s watching is completely empty, and Mr. Remerio is gaunt and has bags in his eyes.
