あらすじ 第3話 「おじさん、ダジャレを言う！」
ある日、生徒会の予算チェックをするグレイス=憲三郎とアンナ。
その最中、何度やっても計算が合わないアンナはグレイス=憲三郎に助けを求める。
するとグレイス=憲三郎は、密かに制作を依頼していたそろばんを使い、アンナのピンチを解決しようとする。
すると一連の出来事を見ていた生徒会長、ヴィルジール・ヴィエルジは、有能でありながら謙虚な彼女に胸の高鳴りを覚えて……。
さらに、前世の経験を活かしたグレイス=憲三郎の言動は、他の生徒会メンバーの心も掴んでいく。

一枚のシートには1000って書いてあって、もう一枚には10000って書いてる（うっかり10倍しちゃったか、小数点を移動させた）。
10000 – 1000 = 9000が2枚のシートの差だ。
9000を9で割ると1000になって、これが問題の値を示してる。これは、10x – x = 9x になるから、9で割ることでxがわかるってわけ。
One sheet has the number 1000 on it, the other sheet has the number 10000 on it (accidentally multiplied by ten / moved the decimal).
10000 – 1000 = 9000 is the difference between the two sheets.
9000/9 is 1000, which shows you the problematic value. This works because 10x – x = 9x, so dividing by 9 shows you x.

Basically it’s a way of checking to see if you’re getting the wrong numbers now because you accidentally shifted a decimal place in a previous step. It’s a bit more complex than how I’d do it on a modern calculator though, because an abacus has less potential algorithms.

意外にも、小学校でそろばんの使い方を教わったのを覚えてるんだよな。けど、使ったのは主に足し算だけで、複雑な計算には使わなかった。掛け算や割り算ができるなんて、このアニメを見るまで知らなかった。考えてみれば納得だけど、アナログ計算機としてちゃんと機能するものを、単位を教えるためだけに使ってたのはちょっと驚きだわ。
あと、西洋のそろばんは日本のやつとは全然違うから、おじさんのやつの使い方はさっぱりわからん。
I surprisingly remember being taught how to use one in elementary school of all places, but we used it to learn OTH and not for complex operations, if anything we were taught addition and that’s it. I never knew they could be used for multiplication and division until this fucking anime. Which in retrospect makes sense, but is kind of wild to me, that they would take what’s essentially a fully-functioning analog calculator and just use it to teach us units
Also the western version has nothing to do with the jap version, I have no idea how to use ojisan’s one
